Throat Swabbing for Rheumatic Fever Prevention

Our pharmacy can provide eligible patients with fully subsidised (free to the patient) throat swabbing and antibiotic treatment in accordance with the National Heart Foundation Guidelines for sore throat management (2014) under a standing order.

We also offer other free throat swabs for non-eligible patients to check if a sore throat is viral or bacterial. If the result comes back as bacterial the patient will then be referred to their GP for antibiotics.
